Can MongoDB and PostgreSQL work together?

The real question is shape. Data arriving as self-contained documents, varying between records and usually read whole, fits here naturally. Data full of relationships, where you regularly need totals across records or guarantees that several things change together or not at all, generally belongs in PostgreSQL.
