Should we migrate off .NET Framework?

Eventually, though rarely urgently. It still receives security updates, so the pressure is usually cost and capability rather than risk. We normally migrate in stages, moving services across while the original application keeps running alongside them.

Does .NET lock us into Azure?

No. Azure is the smoothest path if you are already a Microsoft organization, but .NET applications run perfectly well on AWS, Google Cloud, or your own servers. We build so the hosting decision stays yours rather than being made for you.

Can .NET work with our non-Microsoft systems?

Yes. .NET talks to PostgreSQL, MySQL, Kafka, Redis, and any REST or GraphQL API like anything else would. The Microsoft integration is a strength when you need it, not a requirement that everything else in your stack has to match.

Is C# a good choice for a new product?

It is a strong general-purpose option, particularly where you want static typing, good performance, and a large hiring pool. Where it is less compelling is data science and machine learning work, which is Python territory and we would say so.

This is the most common outdated belief we hear about .NET, and it came from somewhere real. The original .NET Framework did require Windows Server, licensing was a genuine cost, and an enormous amount of that software is still running inside businesses today, which keeps the impression alive long after the facts moved on.

Modern .NET is a different product. It runs on Linux, inside Docker containers, on Kubernetes, and on AWS or Google Cloud as readily as on Azure. Choosing .NET no longer decides your operating system, your hosting provider, or your licensing bill. Anyone telling you otherwise is describing software Microsoft replaced several years ago.

We build on long-term support .NET releases with C# and ASP.NET Core, using Entity Framework Core for data against SQL Server or PostgreSQL. Interfaces run on Blazor where a single-language stack helps, or React where the front end is the product. Authentication goes through Entra ID or standard OpenID Connect, and everything ships in containers to whichever cloud you use.
